Developing Effective TB Case Finding Strategies for the Kingdom of Lesotho
The Ministry of Health of Lesotho has been intensively working to improve the current situation of high levels of TB infection in the country and making all possible efforts to achieve the End TB targets through continued rollout of GeneXpert instruments to improve access to the superior GeneXpert test and find all the missing TB cases. Based on the needs of the country to confront the current TB epidemic and improve treatment coverage, more effective strategies to improve active case finding (ACT) and contact tracing (CT) are required.
From September to December 2020, our Managing Partner worked with TB program and WHO to developed Effective TB Case Finding Strategies (ECFS) which combines the community- and facility-based interventions. The interventions provide solutions to the lost opportunities and have the potential to improves the quality of care along the TB care cascade and increase TB case detection.
It was great to work with Ministry of Health through TB program, WHO, health care workers and implementing partners. I look forward to the translation and tracking the implementation of the suggested interventions.
