WHO TB Surveillance Workshop in Kigali, Rwanda

Dr. Francis was privileged to join other 25 consultants from AFRO region in Kigali, Rwanda from 08 to 12 October 2018 to attend the World Health Organization training on TB surveillance. The workshop was organized by the Global TB Programme, World Health Organization (Geneva, Switzerland) and WHO AFRO region. The goal of this training workshop was to build capacity in the AFRO region by expanding the expert roster for epidemiological reviews to include skilled epidemiologists based in Africa. The workshop trained participants from different countries and sectors including staff from WHO country offices, Ministry of Health, Non-Governmental Organization and other partners supporting the TB Programme, research institutions and independent consultants.

The topics covered include TB Surveillance Systems, TB module of the (District Health Information System 2 (DHIS2), analzyed program data. What comes next is looking forward to work with National TB Programmes in conducting TB epidemiological reviews and analzye routine TB data to inform the countries on their progress and areas to invest to End TB.
